Center of theatrical research 'To give a sense to the life can bring to the madness, but a life without sense is the torment of the restlessness and of the vane desire' Edgar Lee Master: "Spoon River's Antology"
The Italian cultural association 'Groucho Teatro - Centro di ricerca teatrale' was created with the aim of promoving and producing teatral craftsmanship. Following the teachings of the masters (Stanislavskij, Grotowski, Barba, Burnier...), it goes in search of its own theatre. Why Groucho Teatro? The reason of the creation of the association has different explications. The most important one is the wish of creating a space not-place where the natural needs of the human beings can converge, harder and harder to be affirmed today. It is a space where the workers try to resist to the rules that everyday try to destroy the critical sense. Through the theatral creativity, result and, at the same time, process of the tension of the spirit, the I-collective can be reaffiermed, for the artists as for the spectatores. This is possible only through the seriousness and the self-discipline of the theatral work: learning to learn everyday a profession that is more similiar to the artisan's one than to the artist's, for letting the life enter into the theatre. By the other side it seems very usefull the presence of a counterbalance at this discipline, who avoids the seriousness degenerate into the rigidity: the irony and the self-irony. From this contrast was born the name of Groucho Teatro, inspiring to the English master Groucho Marx. |
